Two of the biggest monsters do battle in this film by Japanese director Ishiro Honda (Godzilla – 1954).  It was the first that brought the two movie monsters, King Kong and Godzilla, to the big screen in colour. Despite what you might think there is a section of the movie watching population that considers this film to be a classic.

A pharmaceutical company decides to go to a remote tropical island in order to apenap King Kong in order to use him in their upcoming advertising campaign. What they presumed they could do easily ends up being a disaster as the giant ape attacks both an innocent village and a giant octopus.

At the same time the crew of submarine melts the block of ice in which the dinosaur Godzilla is being held prisoner.  The giant reptile proceeds to attack Tokyo.

Tokyo becomes a magnet for both huge monsters when King Kong also gets there and joins the chaos. Soon the fight becomes one in which the survival of all of mankind hinges upon.

You might have read this and thought to yourself that I have gone soft in the head saying that this was a classic but you have to realize what genre I’m talking about. This is a classic in the B movie genre. It is so hilariously bad in certain instances that you might have to pause the film to wipe the tears of laughter away. Partly due to poor special effects and mostly due to silly story.
