Young Alexander (played by Colin Farrell), aided by his ambitious mother (played by Angelina Jolie), grabs the throne of Greece after his father’s (played by Val Kilmer) death. At first there are rumblings about Alexander’s fitness for the throne but after he leads his army to victory after victory the grumblings quiet.
Alexander even defeats the mighty Persians and is well on the way towards completing his ambitions of world dominance. The ambition that has served him well might well bring about Alexander’s downfall as his men begin to tire of the constant warring and he is beginning to stretch himself a little thin.
