Working class British rock is front and centre on the latest offering from the Kaiser Chiefs. Their fifth album works in elements of glam rock and Brit pop but they are certainly angry and it comes through in their crunch rock tracks. While they seem more down about the state of the politics and economy in their beloved country the music will still put a smile on fans’ faces in that it is good stuff. It contains the biting social commentary within the lyrics that we’ve come to expect from Kaiser Chiefs and wrap up their words in very catchy melodies. To show their individuality they even have well-known British actor Bill Nighy read some poetry on the track “Cannons”. A true album that you will listen to from first track to last without skipping any. The scary thing is that they churn out this kind of quality while leaving you thinking that they have not hit their musical peak yet.
