The Return of Katy Perry

katy perry liveWho would have thunk it, but the daughter of two evangelical pastors has become one of the more titillating pop stars going. With her release “One of the Boys”, Katy Perry has come a long way from her first album (recorded under her real name Katy Hudson) – a Christian recording. Now with songs like “I Kissed a Girl” (one of the biggest songs of 2008), “Ur So Gay” and “Hot N Cold” she is now the queen of sexual innuendo-laden pop music.

Not succumbing to the sophomore jinx, Katy’s second album Teenage Dream, released in 2010, was been an even bigger hit.  Singles “California Gurls”, “Teenage Dream”, “Firework”, “ET”, and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” were hugely successful and made her the only artist to remain on the Billboard singles chart for 52 straight weeks.

Her follow-up to Teenage Dream could not have topped those astounding numbers, but it has not been a disappointment either.  Released in 2013 Prism has spawned the hit singles “Roar”, “Dark Horse”, “Birthday”,  and “Unconditionally”. It has been named as the 6th biggest selling album on the planet so far in 2014, so no sniff of failure there.

Unlike many of the pop princesses today Perry can actually sing and writes her own music. She took voice lessons for years and even dabbled in opera.  Her career has become a worldwide sing-a-long. She is popular wherever she goes and her shows are all sold out. A mix of sass and spunk this is certainly a highly anticipated show

There are very few tickets left for the show, so if you want to go and don’t want to be disappointed buy quickly.
