Though she is quite young (22), Charli XCX took her time getting to the top of the charts. Her first album is not available commercially, 2010 recorded EP You’re the One was finally released in 2012 and then finally she came to the music public’s attention when she featured on the hit singles “I Love It” by Icona Pop and “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea. This success was quickly followed by the release of her first major studio album, True Romance, in 2013. Proving she could do it on her own, Charli XCX scored her first Top 10 hit with the single “Boom Clap” off the album. Rumour has it that a new album will be released at the end of this year.
Despite the fact that she is young, Charli XCX has plenty of experience performing live. At the age of 14 she started performing at raves in London and then moved on to playing proper gigs. She is the midst of her own proper tour, the Girl Power North American tour. Previously Charli XCX opened for the likes of Marina and the Diamonds, Coldplay, Paramore, and The Ting Tings. Now she has earned the coveted opening spot in the European portion of Katy Perry’s tour.
