Though some out there might think that this is weird musical coupling but if you think about it there is plenty of sense to it. Lady Gaga when she was still Stephani Germanotta went through classical music training meaning there is some foundation beneath all her crazy pop music. The lady is a trained musician and would obviously know the classics. Tony Bennett has sung all the American Standards. Putting them together is like the first person to make a peanut butter and jam sandwich in that they are opposites that complement each other well. The fact that this is not just a studio creation or that they were thrown together just to sell albums is obvious as they definitely have musical chemistry. What is most revelatory about the album is that it really cements that the pop diva has a great set of pipes. So great so that at times on certain songs she is guilty of oversinging. Though there are moments when Gaga sparkles. Can sing pop songs and interpret jazz standards as well. Needless to say, Mr. Tony Bennett is totally in his element. Retirement seems like it is never going to happen for this guy. The two play well off and bring out the best in each other. The songs are fantastic with well known classics like “Anything Goes”, “Let’s Face the Music and Dance” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If it Ain’t Got That Swing)”.
