It is back to the courtroom for Perry Mason (played by Raymond Burr) and his team of Della Street (played by Barbara Hale) and Ken Malansky (played by William R. Moses). Even though they are one of the top defense teams in the United States they have their hands full with these six cases. They have to defend their clients who are all the prime suspects in murders involving the death of magazine editors, a magician assistant, a struggling artist, a television talk show host, the bride’s uncle, and a cosmetics tycoon. Though these made for television movies all aired in the nineties they stand up well in the fact that they will keep you guessing until the end.
The Case of the Glass Coffin:
During a magic show one of the assistants is killed in a trick that seems to have gone horribly wrong. After the dust settles the magician, David Katz (played by Peter Scolari), is the number one suspect. This is due to the fact that after her death it is revealed that just previous she had revealed to him that she was pregnant with his child after their one night together. He is a married man who did not want his wife finding out about his indiscretion. It is up to Perry with the help of Della Street (played by Barbara Hale) and Ken Malansky (played by William R. Moses) to find out if anyone else wanted the woman dead.
The Case of the Fatal Fashion:
As the editor of a high fashion magazine that has built its reputation on its destruction of the careers of others in the industry, Dyan Draper (played by Valerie Harper) is far from a popular woman but she is a powerful one. When she turns up dead and it is murder an editor at a competing magazine become the prime suspect. Lauren Jeffreys (played by Diana Muldaur) is a friend of Perry and Della’s so they come to her defense. It will be up to them to clear her name and weed through the multiple people who had a reason to want her dead to unearth the killer.
The Case of the Fatal Framing:
Needing some cash a painter fakes his own death with the aim of raising the price his work sells for. After his death some forgeries of his work start surfacing and this brings him out of hiding to out the counterfeiter. Then he is killed for real this time. Perry Mason and Ken Malansky take on the defense of the accused as they are a friend of Ken’s from school.
The Case of the Reckless Romeo:
After writing a tell-all book about his past love affairs a television talk show host (played by Geraldo Rivera) is murdered. The list of people who had a reason to want him dead is long and includes plenty of celebrities. It is Perry Mason to the defense of actress Roxanne Shields (played by Amy Steel), who had uttered a death threat against him during a televised interview, after she is arrested for the murder.
The Case of the Skin-Deep Scandal:
A famous cosmetics company owner, Alana Westbrook (played by Morgan Fairchild), reveals that she is sixty and looks good because of the anti-aging cream her company has developed. Shortly after she is murdered and the anti-aging cream’s formula is stolen. Her husband Arthur (played by Patrick O’Neal) is arrested. It is up to Perry Mason and Ken Malansky to figure out whether he truly is the guilty party or is the victim of a complicated cover-up. The case becomes more involved when it is revealed that Alana was unfaithful to Arthur.
