Meghan Trainor’s booty and body size positive hit of last year “All About That Bass” was a huge hit and now she has released the 15-song album that goes with it. We are all wondering if she is just a one hit wonder or whether the hit single was a sign of things to come. The sound is pretty consistent throughout with the 21-year-old bringing not only booty back but an old fashioned kind of sound. Now, I don’t want you to take it as a negative as the older sound suits her particular brand of sassiness and self-empowerment. She accomplishes this without having to take anyone down or be demeaning. The lyrics (she co-wrote every song on the album) are all sassy and that coupled with the older sound will make her appealing to a wide range of fans, but especially women. Doo-wop and that girl group sound is perfect for songs like “Dear Future Husband”, “Lips Are Movin’” and “Like I’m Gonna Lose You”, which features guest vocals by John Legend. Even the ballads are of the head bobbing and finger snapping variety.
