Philadelphia natives who brought blue eyed soul to the masses in the seventies and eighties, Hall & Oates are still able thirty years later to draw huge crowds to their concerts. There is a sense of nostalgia while watching one of music’s most successful duos perform. They bring back the days of when music videos and MTV first began and when the station played mostly videos. The duo was all over the television during that era with hit after hit. Amazingly this was their first show in Dublin and was recorded in July of 2014.
Though they are in the autumn of their lives that does not mean that they can no longer bring it in a live setting; Hall & Oates still put on a good live show. The short set they treated their Irish fans with is filled with energy. Despite the fact that he is 68, Daryl Hall’s voice has aged well. Second billing always went to John Oates, but this show shows how the 66-year-old is a great guitarist and solid performer. The songs chosen from their extensive catalogue really gives the listener a good overview of their career. While listening you really appreciate how many charting hits they had and the influence Hall & Oates has had on present-day musical acts.
