English singer-songwriter Jessie Ware is in the midst of a world tour in support of her sophomore album, Tough Love. Her debut album, Devotion, was released in 2012 and peaked at number 5 on the UK Album Chart.
Starting her career off slowly, but wisely, Ware toured as a backup singer for Jack Penate. She said she enjoyed it and learned a lot as the pressure was off her as she was not up front and center. In 2010 and 2011 she provided vocals for the band SBTRKT on various singles. In 2011 she also worked on the Florence & the Machine album, Ceremonials. After releasing her own singles in 2011 and early on in 2012 her first full length album was released in August of 2012. Demonstrating its critical success Devotion was nominated in 2012 for the prestigious Mercury Award. She was also nominated two years in a row, 2014 and 2015, for the Best Female Act at the Brit Awards.
For her second album Ware worked with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Benny Blanco, Miguel, and Sam Smith. The first single released off the album was “Wildest Moments”. It became her second Top 10 Album in the UK. On the back of this success, she also worked with Nicki Minaj’s most recent album, The Pinkprint, on a track called “The Crying Game”.
