If you enjoy a good Broadway Musical you will love Hairspray at the charming Harold Greenspon Auditorium from May 28 to June 14. The huge cast of extremely capable singing and dancing actors, who are expertly directed by Anisa Cameron and choreographed by Alexia Gourd, work their way into your heart. The equally impressive seven-piece live orchestra situated right on stage is led by David Terriault.
Make no mistake that this pleasantly light hearted and humorous extravaganza of music, dance, and colorful costumes has an important message to share about values, acceptance and tolerance between all humans. Imagine, no pun intended, a world where all the people live in harmony.
Mitchell Brownstein is the driving force behind the Cote-St-Luc Dramatic Society and a talented actor who performs as Wilbur Turnblad. Wilber’s daughter Tracy, exquisitely played by the dynamic Amber Jonas, has an exaggerated hairstyle that is big as her heart is for civil rights of all. Her Mother Edna is played by Mike Melino who wears some interesting outfits.
I could tell you about all of the marvelous talent behind the Stubbs, the Von Tussles, the Pingletons, Tracy and Link, the Dynamites, Penny and Seaweed and Corny Collins and the Nicest Kids in Town, but I think you’d really rather enjoy discovering them for yourselves !
There’s even a brilliant cameo by, my friend and Dollard-des-Ormeaux City Councilor, Herb Brownstein as the school principal.
Be prepared to be thoroughly entertained during the entire show and continue to smile, feel encouraged and inspired for hours afterwards as I did.
Save yourself a bundle of ca$h and time finding your way to the Big Apple and capitalize on a lovely Broadway Musical experience right here in Cote-St-Luc.
