Each year for the Just for Laughs comedy festival there is one headliner who plays a big show and this year it is the smallest big laugh guy – Kevin Hart. Many have made mention of his short stature (he is only 5’4”) and he has even worked it into his stand-up acts, but few emphasize enough how big he is on the funny scale.
Kevin Hart started out the hard way (but the usual way) in regards to his stand-up career. He entered and won a few amateur comedy contests in the New England area. His first big break was when director Judd Apatow cast him in his short lived but popular television series, Freaks & Geeks in 2000. Hart continued acting gaining small but memorable roles in films like Little Fockers, Soul Plane and Scary Movie 3. This was just the beginning of things for the man with the big motor mouth.
His comedy recordings like I’m a Grown Little Man gained him even more notice and he got bigger roles in films like Think Like a Man, Ride Along and About Last Night. Never turning his back on his stand-up career he continues to tour and has released a couple of comedy albums, like Seriously Funny in 2010 and Laugh at My Pain in 2011.
Hart’s comedy style is one of his own in which at a rapid-fire pace he delves into his own life and insecurities. His present tour is called the What Now? tour. An indication of his popularity is that the show is sold out.
