Due to female comedians and comedic actresses like Amy Schumer, Margaret Cho, Kathy Griffin and Mindy Kaling attaining some success lately it has paved the path for more to gain entry on television. The latest two are Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair; two female comedic actresses who play well off one another. They play two childhood friends who drifted apart when one of them moved to China for work. Now they are back together when one is about to give birth and finds out her husband has been conducting an online affair. Now they are each other’s rock just like in high school.
Episode 1: Pilot: Maggie (played by Lennon Parham) and Emma (played by Jessica St. Clair) have been best friends since childhood. Emma returns to their small town Connecticut home town as Maggie is about to give birth.
Episode 2: Bird Bones: Emma and Maggie reluctantly agree to have brunch with Mark’s (played by Keegan-Michael Key) wife, Tina (played by Lindsay Sloane). Mark is tied up in an investigation of a bunch of garden knomes.
Episode 3: Unfinished Business: Maggie and Mark look for Bruce (played by Brad Morris) after he suddenly disappears. Emma tries to forge a relationship with her estranged mother, Gwen (played by Jane Kaczmarek).
Episode 4: Totes Kewl: Emma goes on a date with Maggie’s divorce lawyer, Gary (played by Andrew Daly). She also finds out something that her mother was trying to keep secret.
Episode 5: Drumline: Emma talks Maggie into going into her high school drumline reunion. There Maggie falls back under the sway of her high school crush, C.J. (played by Jason Mantzoukas).
Episode 6: Bosephine and the Catfish: Maggie is suspicious about the girl Zach (played by Zach Woods) met online. Emma decides to help Bruce find a place to live.
Episode 7: Spaghetti and Meatballs: Emma and Maggie are helping Mark organize the annual Policeman’s Spaghetti Dinner. It turns into a night few in the town will ever forget.
Episode 8: 37 Weeks: Emma gets together a bunch of people from the town to help Maggie get the house ready for the baby. Past secrets between Emma and Mark are revealed.
Episode 9: Let’s Have a Baby: Maggie and Emma both really like the OB/GYN (played by Garvelle Beauvais) who is delivering Maggie’s baby. Bruce almost does not make it to his daughter’s birth.
Episode 10: Bugs in Your Eyes: Mark gets into a sticky situation with Tina and it is Emma and Maggie to the rescue. Maggie tries to do everything until she is taught by a biker gang member that it is not a sign of weakness to ask for help.
