Ben Miner Will Cook Up Some Laughs

ben miner preview2Hailing from Toronto Ben Miner is a multi-talented guy.  He is a stand-up comedian, a host of his own comedy show on Sirius XM as well as a finalist on Masterchef Canada.  You might think that cooking and laughter do not go together, but in my mind this is a great fit as both make you feel great.  Later on there will be a Ben Miner recipe for grilled cheese that you can try out at home.


Headlining a trio of nights at the Comedy Works starting tonight, Ben Miner is bringing his stand-up skills to town.  With his mad skills he has gotten laughs from coast to far away coast in this country.  He tours loads so you might have seen him on stage here previously or during the Just for Laughs festival.



Great Grilled Cheese Recipe:

Ok, this is serious. I know, you think you can already make a great grilled cheese. You can’t, settle down. Fish can’t climb ladders but that doesn’t make them dumb. Here’s what you do. Are you listening? Save your fat. Huh? SAVE YOUR FAT! As in, next time you make a delicious roast. Save the fat and use it instead of butter for your grilled cheese – your mind will be blown. I think it works best with pork. I’m talking that solid orange fat too, don’t you skimp. Here’s how to make the greatest grilled cheese ever:


3 slices of good bread. Don’t use multigrain, don’t use rye – don’t use anything healthy. Use a nice loaf of white bread.

Old cheddar – use a lot. If you think “That’s too much”, add more

Smoked gouda – Apply cheddar logic to the gouda. More is more.

Pork fat

Toast off a slice of bread ahead of time and put that in the middle of the sandwich. That’s right, we’re doing a triple decker. Put your cheddar on the top and gouda on the bottom. Leave the fat out to soften a little and then spread it on the outside of the bread. Add a couple table spoons of pork fat to a hot pan and grill that cheese, man! To make it croque monsieur style just add a bit of cheese to the outside and you can make it super crusty and delicious. And bacon. Add bacon always. Ok, good chat.
