billy gibbons and the bfgs perfectamundoOne of the guys with a beard from ZZ Top has released his first solo album.  Billy Gibbons brings together his usual southern blues with Afro-Cuban to create something that is well…perfectamundo. His fusion does not stop there as there is plenty going on her with some touches of hip hop, 70s rock and roll, funk, and soul. What remains is that Gibbons still plays a mean guitar. Several blistering solos to enjoy over the course of the eleven tracks.  Reminding everyone what a great blues guitarist he is and also how underappreciated. Also he takes on three cover songs with “Baby Please Don’t Go”, “Treat Her Right” and “Got Love If You Want It”. All three have that Caribbean flavour to them. The only down part of the album is the extensive use of Auto-Tune on Gibbons’ voice. Weird and doesn’t lend anything to the songs. Makes him sound eerily like Cher. Different than ZZ Top but still loads of fun.
