For her thirteenth album Aussie superstar Kylie Minogue has decided to come out with her own Christmas album. It is a mixture of originals and holiday classics. As you would expect from the lady who has released many a dance club song these are Christmas classics done with a dance/disco flair. To make sure this is not dismissed roundly as a cheesy cash in on the season, Minogue has kept the production value and arrangements (lush strings, brassy and vibrant) first class as well as her vocals are as clear as a winter’s night. Though she is no Adele she has an underappreciated voice and knows what its strengths are. Pleasant surprises (because honestly surprises are usually few and far between when it comes to Christmas albums) are the duets with rocker Iggy Pop on “Christmas Wrappings”, late night host James Cordon on “Only You” and Mr. Cool himself, Frank Sinatra on “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”.
