On the Esplanade of Place des Arts over the holiday period Le Grand Marché de Noël de Montreal should be one of the things taking place that you should make time to check out. It is a big Christmas market filled with activities and entertainment for all ages. You can buy a load of unique gifts there plus have fun by day or night.
If you are looking for some outdoor fun for you and the family over the holidays then Le Grand Marché de Noël is the ticket. Activities include Village de Noël le Lait where you can visit The Real Santa’s Cabin and learn about holiday traditions from around the world, Igloo le Lait is a place where you can go listen to Christmas stories, take a ride in Santa’s sleigh, try out the cookie decoration workshop, take part in some square dancing, a Telus Charging Wall to benefit the Old Brewery Mission, and come to the little igloo dedicated to Karaoke where you can gather with family or friends to sing your heart out.
Despite it being outdoors and in the heart of winter there will be plenty of food and drink to sample. While there you can fill your belly with something warm or hot from one of the many milk bars, stop by the Pommery House to sample their champagne, visit Glow Mtl for some cotton candy, try some taffy on the snow, pass by Bar Belgh Brasse-Boris-London Calling for a variety of beers, cocktails and drinks, at the Bar du Marché you can order a hot or cold Hendrick’s gin cocktail, Gaufrabec is the place to get some tasty waffles, satisfy your sweet tooth at Queues de Castor, Au Pied du Cochon will have a food truck there, buy some fine food articles at Europea, and head over to the Glenlivet space to sample their famous whiskey.
On New Year’s Eve there will be an outdoor Fiesta to ring in the New Year. It all begins with some blood pumping square dancing at 5 p.m. Then at 8 p.m. DJ Yannick Roberge from Pop 80s will start off the music. Beginning at 11 p.m. DJ Poirier will help ring in the New Year. There will also be karaoke, food and, of course, champagne.
