Drake has his own label called OVO and Majid Jordan (the guys – Majid Al Makati and Jordan Ullman – on Drake’s 2013 hit “Hold On, We’re Going Home”) is signed to it and has just released their debut album. Al Makati does the singing and Ullman is the producer and they are great at fusing house music with radio friendly pop. The Toronto duo has a particular knack for allowing the great hooks they write to have the space required to breathe and worm their way into your brain. Of the type that you will, without realizing it, be bobbing your head up and down to the music. The strongest tracks are those that feature great dancefloor grooves like “Make It Work”, “King City” and lead single, “Something About You”. Another strong track features guest vocals from Drake himself called “My Love”. A set of songs like this will surely move the two Canadians out of Drake’s shadow and into their own slice of the spotlight. For fans of urban, R&B and The Weeknd.
