ASAP Ferg (Darold Ferguson) began dishing our trap to rap fans back in 2013. It has now become more mainstream thanks to acts like Fetty Wrap. On his follow up Always Strive and Prosper he is now mixing his trap up with healthy doses of EDM. Just keeping it real, I guess. Or at least not predictable. That being said the music on this album is highly entertaining (lyrics are filled with funny moments) and listenable. He engages a whole bunch of music friends to help him out on different numbers like Missy Elliott on the track “Strive”, Chris Brown on “I Love You”, Skrillex on “Hungry Ham” and Migos on “Back Hurt”. It is a group effort though the man in the middle remains firmly in the spotlight. At times over the different tracks he is at times humourous, sincere, frank, poignant and pensive. A nice mix of emotions without allowing any to overwhelm. Colour his game officially stepped up!
