2016 Edition of Montreal Comiccon Preview

comiccon 2016 preview2Fantasia Film Festival started off being thought of as a festival for fans of animé or horror films. A narrow view by some who don’t know what it is all about. The same type of misconception envelopes Comic-Con. Most think that it is a festival for the geeky fans of sci fi and comic books. In reality that is just a section of the people who attend the yearly Comic-Con Montreal. Comic-Con has become hugely popular because it does not focus on one genre or type of fan. In 2014 over 51,000 attended over the three days of the festival. You don’t get that popular by catering to one niche of fans.

This will be the 8th edition of Comic-Con Montreal and it looks to be bigger and better than what has come before. Over the three days at the Palais de Congrès fans of sci fi, comic books, television, film, and collectibles will gather to check out what is new and touch base or even take a picture with some of their favourites.

On the large exhibition floor there will be a ton of booths that carry toys, comic books, collectibles, and video games. Expect long lines almost everywhere as fans line up to get autographs or photos with actors. Some of these same actors will also participate in Q&A sessions in which their fans get a chance to ask them that question they’ve always wanted to.

The special guests in attendance range from actors (The Fresh Prince of Bel Air), Billy Dee Williams (Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back), Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Brett Dalton (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), Chris Sarandon (The Nightmare Before Christmas), Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), John Barrowman (Arrow/Dr. Who), Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager), Liam Mcintyre (Spartacus), Manu Bennet (Arrow/Spartacus), Michael Ironside (Total Recall/Turbo Kid), Mike Grell (Green Lantern/Green Arrow), Morena Baccarin (Deadpool/Homeland), Noelle Hannibal (Star Trek: First Contact), Nichelle Nichols (Star Trek: TOS), Robin Lord Taylor (Gotham), Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy), Summer Glau (Firefly/Serenity),Tom Felton (Harry Potter), and William Shatner (Star Trek). Even wrestling star Rick Flair (WWE Hall of Famer) and Montreal’s beloved mascot Youppi will be there. The impressive line-up of guests will please fans of many different mediums and genres.
