mumford and sons johannesburgThe folk artists have finally come out with some new music but it is not a full album. Rather it is a five track Ep. Guess we should not complain as it is some new music. The songs were recorded in South Africa during a tour and over two days with Johan Hugo of Afropop/electronic duo Very Best acting as the producer. Mumford & Sons worked with some famous African musicians on the songs. “There Will Be Time” features vocals by Senegalese artist Baaba Maal while “Wona” benefits from the contributions of South Africa group Beatenberg. The African inspiration brings a new flavour to the folk music we’ve come to expect from the British group. Title track “Johannesburg” is a strong example of that and the best song of the lot. Quite different from what they have done in the past but a nice evolution.
