Enjoy Yourself with Zoofest

July in Montreal the temperatures heat up and so does the comedy.  You cannot swing a monkey (though I am totally against that) without hitting a comedy show.  With both Just for Laughs and Zoofest in town around the same time there is no reason not to spend the month laughing.  This year from July 7-30 there will be a ton of reasonably priced shows in smaller venues for fans of stand-up and other comedic forms to take in.

zoofest 2016 preview2Just because this is the younger sibling standing in the shadow of the behemoth that is Just for Laughs does not mean that Zoofest does not attract known comedic quantities.  For example, well-known veterans like Andy Dick, Greg Behrendt (I Am the King Sweater), Emo Philips, George Wallace, Gina Brillon, Louie Anderson, Scott Thompson, Andy Kindler, Tom Green, and Janeane Garofalo will all perform.  There are also plenty of up and coming acts waiting for you to discover like Mary Lyn Rajskub, Aparna Nancherla, Ari Shaffir, Beth Stelling, Cameron Esposito, and Daniel Sloss.

If you like variety then there are plenty of shows with large rosters of comedians.  Shows like Goddamn Comedy Jam, Girls Nights with Iliza No Boys Allowed, Hosts with the Most, Life Lessons: A Live Comedy Talk Show, and Midnight Surprise.

I have just scraped the surface of what is available for fans of comedy over the days of the festival.  There are shows in both official languages with plenty of laughs to be found in either.
