With their twenty sixth DCU animated feature a bad guy is the star of the show. Or so the cover wants you to believe. The Joker is one of the most intriguing and, if it can be said, loved villains of all-time. He can carry a film. That was probably what they went into the making of the film thinking and then somehow things change. Patches of it is dominated by silly Batgirl stuff. It has nothing to do with the Joker and does not add anything. Bad choices are made by those behind the scenes. If they had stuck with The Joker it would have been a solid addition instead we get a head scratching and often frustrating film. Batgirl becomes a ridiculous character here. Her obsession with Batman is embarrassing.
Somehow and probably not surprising The Joker (voiced by Mark Hamill) has escaped once again. This time from Arkham Asylum. Right away he goes back to what he does best. Doing everything his twisted mind can come up with to cause chaos and mayhem. This time his efforts are focused on Batman (voiced by Kevin Conroy) and Commissioner Gordon (voiced by Ray Wise). Behind all this is his desire to prove that even the good guys are just one day away from being seen and behaving like a villain.
To accomplish this he is getting at Commissioner Gordon through his daughter Barbara, also known as Batgirl (voiced by Tara Strang). During this same time Batgirl is trying to get Batman to take her seriously as a superhero. This proving involves another villain called Paris Franz (voiced by Maury Sterling).
