With all these DJ albums coming out it makes you sit back a moment to think about what they are bringing the music landscape. If you are to answer that based on this album then you have to say retread music and loads of special guests/vocalists who don’t really add much to the mix. On DJ Snake’s Encore, his debut album after releasing some monster singles, there are a couple of songs that try to recreate his biggest hit “Turn Down for What”. Yes, there is fun and catchy synth and bass beats going on but the second time around it is less fun. “Propaganda” is a strong track that will get some club play but is it wrong for me to expect something new? Even the guest vocalists (Young Thug, Travis Scott) underwhelm. Justin Bieber, a guy who many a DJ has used to great success, turns up on the song “Let Me Love You” and while it is not a disaster (it jumps on the tropical house bandwagon) it certainly is no “What Are U Now?”. A winner amongst the fourteen tracks is “Sober” featuring JRY.
