the-comedyworks-preview2We are just past the premiere comedy event here in Montreal, Just for Laughs, and the opportunities for laughs are not slowing down.  The legendary Comedyworks comedy club in the central part of the downtown area has reworked their offerings for fans of live comedy.

Mondays will continue to feature the always popular Open Mic nights while Thursdays through Saturday will feature well-known headliners like Ben Miner, Franco Taddeo, Andrew Searles, and Mike MacDonald.  Additions to the already exciting roster of shows will include Sunday Night Super Mic, Tuesday Improv and sketch comedy every second Wednesday.

La Belle Improv: Known for its tradition of supporting and presenting the best local improv acts, Comedyworks will once again feature an improv night starting Tuesday, Sept. 13. Entitled La Belle Improv, this exciting new bi-weekly show is being organized by improv maestro Martha Graham and will feature several local artists.

Sept. 22 – 24: Michael Harrison headlines! In 2012, Michael’s comedic talent earned him his own nationally syndicated half-hour comedy special that continues to be aired on the Comedy Network. Michael has also been featured in Just for Laughs, Laugh Your Asheville Off and the LOL Sudbury Comedy festival.

Sunday Night Super Mic: Based on the NYC format of open mics, Comedyworks’ Sunday Night Super Mic will feature up to 20 comics performing short sets as of 8 PM every Sunday, starting Sept. 11.  At the low cost of $5 for admission, this is a great chance for audiences to see new local comics and experienced veterans trying out new material.

Comedyworks will also welcome back The Pretty Funny Show on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Featuring the city’s best burlesque performers competing against stand-ups for laughs, this truly unique show was a huge hit last spring and will be brought back for additional dates in November and January.
