kt-tunstall-kinBefore there was Ed Sheeran there was KT Tunstall. In 2005 she came out with her album Eye to the Telescope and it was that acoustic guitar, loop pedal type thing. She, and the album, was huge with the singles “Suddenly I See” and “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree”. There was a Grammy nomination and then….much less commercial success with the several albums that came afterwards. We, and I am sure she, were thinking that she was another flash in the pan who was never going to catch lightening in a bottle musically again. Harsh, but true. Maybe in an effort to change her mojo the Scottish native moved to Los Angeles recently and recorded Kin. I can confidently say, no matter how the album does commercially, this is her return to pop music glory. There is not a downer song out of the lot. Lyrically or musically. The lady knows how to write catchy hooks and lyrics. Catchy yet meaningful at the same time. “On My Star” is a fantastic example of what KT Tunstall is all about and capable of.
