In 2014 this iconic band released a comeback album fans were ecstatic. Now a couple of years later they are making the release a new album a regular thing. This time out the roster is filled out by new bassist Paz Lenchantin (formerly of A Perfect Circle) and longtime fans will not be unhappy with the thumping basslines she provides. To match her muscular output her fellow bandmates follow along with strong sounding guitar work by Joey Santiago and gruff vocals by Black Francis. This is alt-rock at its purest. Unlike their last album it sounds like they are feeling free and happy as a band. The tension is all gone from the music and in its place songs that are energetic and lashing. A solid Pixies album. It is the Pixies of old without the music sounding dated.
