tove-lo-lady-woodWithin every generation there are artists that buck the trend. At a time where fabricated pop stars like Selena Gomez and Katy Perry find themselves at the top of the charts Swedish native Tove Lo is like a breath of fresh air. Will remind some of a Janis Joplin or Courtney Love type in that she never shies away from any subject in her songs. Going to places few would dare. Maybe that is why she is a sought after songwriter having penned tunes for Ellie Goulding, The Saturdays, Icona Pop, and Cher Lloyd. Lady Wood is her second album and she is just as in your face on this one as she was on her 2014 debut, Queen of the Clouds. Many of you are already familiar with the single “Cool Girl” but there is so much more to discover here. Darker and dreamier than her previous work while maintaining a dance pop sound. Though there are not big hit singles here like she had with “Talking Body” and “Stay High (Habits)” but there is plenty to enjoy. She is all about writing in a blunt way about how our emotions take us over and with the sound filled with house and hip hop influences still gets us out on the dancefloor.
