Beyond Valkyrie: Dawn of the Fourth Reich

beyond valkyrie dawn of the fourth reichSurprisingly, this was not too awful. It is what it is. Meaning that you should not go into straight to video films with too high expectations. Let’s just say that this Claudio Fah (Sniper: Reloaded, Hollowman 2) helmed action film held my attention.

Most films on World War II deal with either the Nazis/Hitler and the horrors committed against the Jews, particular battles or how the Allies eventually won. This one is a little different as it deals with the failed assassination attempt of Hitler called Valkyrie and the aftermath. We come in towards the end of the War and with the Allies looking towards the future and the rebuilding of Europe.

The end of World War II is coming and the Americans and British Special Forces combine on a mission to extract a German officer, who they see as the leader of the country after Hitler is defeated, from behind enemy lines. They want to make sure he is not killed in what remains of the fighting.

When Valkyrie, the plot to assassinate Hitler, fails everything changes. The mission now changes and the Americans and Brits have to work with some Russian Special Ops to stop Nazi officers from fleeing Germany for Argentina in order to set up the Fourth Reich.

Not a war film with a big budget, but they make due. The action is not the best you will ever see, it is passable. Acting is decent by everyone but Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan, Natural Born Killers), who looks lost in everything he does lately.
