Boys to Men with the Brothers Hanson

hansonMMMBop!  The brothers Hanson, hailing from Oklahoma, have recorded one of the most inane pop songs ever, but, boy, was it ever catchy!  No matter what your feelings were about the song it worked its way into your brain like a worm into an apple and burrowed there.  The song came out in 1997 when they were still quite young.  Isaac (guitar) was 17, Taylor (keyboards/vocals) was 14 and Zachary (drums) was 12.  The song came from their debut album entitled Middle of Nowhere and the album earned them three Grammy nominations.

Though it seemed to me like the band disappeared after that album, they were around long enough to have sold 16 million albums and have six Top 40 singles.  In 2001 the brothers left their record label over creative differences and started releasing their music on their own label called 3CG Records.

Their latest album, Anthem, was released in 2013. They are working on releasing a Christmas album for the upcoming holiday season. Besides that they have branched out by being judges on the reality show, Cupcake Wars. Last spring they announced a world tour to mark their 25th year together as a a band. The tour is called Middle of Everywhere.

Since 1995 the brothers Hanson have released 11 albums. Shout it Out, was released in 2010 and their lastest released this year is Anthem.  They also recently made an appearance in Katy Perry’ s video for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).

An indication of their enduring appeal the show is sold out.
