A surprise hit for AMC is the series Preacher, based on the graphic novels by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. Season One got off to a little of a slow start then picked up about half way through. Season Two keeps the energy up. Throughout most of the season everything is happening fast and crazy. They get into one tight jam after another. Though with tongue seriously planted in cheek. Not like anything else on television today. Often there is a scene of gross violence side by side with a laugh out loud one. Odd, but it works. It is stylized, quirky, funny, and lovable all at once. Throughout the 13 episodes you feel like there is darkness right around the corner.

We left our odd trio – the preacher Jesse Custer (played by Dominic Cooper), his rough and tumble ex-girlfriend Tulip (played by Ruth Negga) and Irish vampire Cassidy (played by Joseph Gilgun) – at the end of season one as they were about to embark on a trip. This is a trip like no other as they are off in the search of God. What they encounter along the way is being in the middle of a war between Heaven and Hell.
