Juggling being an actress and a singer is a tricky thing. Explains why it has been seven years in between albums for Charlotte Gainsbourg. This is her fifth album and despite the time in between work she has not altered her M.O. much. The lyrics are still dry and witty with some frivoulousness thrown in for good measure. All the songs here are very light and airy. Will remind  music fans of lounge-pop produced in the 90s. That makes sense when you become aware that Daft Punk member Guy-Manuel works on this album. Another big name pops up in the form of Paul McCartney on the track “Songbird in a Cage”. Everything here is simplified to it most primary essence. Words are reduced yet emotions are still complex. You have to listen closely to get the full drift of everything. A mix of French and English lyrics. Music is definitely part of her soul.
