Bringing Her True Colours – Pink

Very few present-day female solo pop artists have had as long and as successful career as Alecia Beth Moore better known as Pink. The 38-year-old from Pennsylvania began way back in 2000 with the release of “There You Go” off her debut album Can’t Take Me Home.  Since the beginning of her career she has had 15 singles on the year-end Billboard Hot 100 Singles list. Selling over 50 million albums and 80 million singles over 13 years, winning 3 Grammy Awards, a Brit Award and 7 MTV Video Awards, and being named by Billboard as the number one pop artist of the 2000-2010 decade means you have been a success and this lady has been hot, hot, hot.

Early on in life Pink wanted to be an Olympic gymnast, but she also was attracted to music.  In high school she joined her first band and wrote lyrics to songs as an outlet for her feelings.  Pink began performing in Philadelphia clubs at the early age of 14.  Music producer L.A. Reid signed Pink’s all-girl R&B band though it became apparent that Pink was the real star of the trio so Reid told her to go solo.  She listened to that advice and has not really looked back since.

Pink has always rebelled against the idea of her being a prefabricated pop star.  This is a woman who knows her mind and follows it.  Feisty and outspoken, Pink has always been in control of her career.  She wants to be seen as a serious song writer and musician.  Artistic control has always been important for her.

The Beautiful Trauma World Tour is in support of her seventh studio album of the same name.  It has spurned the hit singles “What About Us” and “Revenge”. The show at the Bell Centre is sold out.
