I popped into yesterday’s wide-ranging Electric Vehicle Show at Place Bonaventure. The second edition of this educational event began on Friday and will wind down on Sunday. Our interest in electric cars, bikes, bicycles, buses, wheelchairs, electric charging stations and even electric skateboards were all on display. The importance of said event was substantiated by the numbers that have so far attended this annual event (last year over 18,000 people attended, this year over 25,000 people are expected to attend).
With gas prices inching back to the $1.50 mark and the increasing concerns of gasoline emissions associated with burning fossil fuels. It is not surprising that thousands packed into the show so far as interest in electric vehicles seems to consistently increase. This annual event features 75 exhibitors, alongside experts, hobbyists, and the possibility to test drive various models (come early to reserve your test drive).
Quebec Premier Phillippe Couillard visited the event early on Friday, to ramp up support for the future of environmentally friendly vehicles. The provincial government is offering future electric vehicle buyers substantial cash incentives, up $8,000 cash back. CAA-Quebec claims that Quebec has over 24,000 electric cars on it’s roads, and that’s a 10,000 car increase from this time last year.
Check out this event and learn about the future in electric transportation.
