Kayobe and Rashid St. James got linked up by a friend who thought it would be good for them to work together, especially as Kayobe began to branch out into producing more hip hop beats. They first started work on another track (which will be included on Nevermore), but “Knock” didn’t come until a little later. After producing a few tracks for Rashid’s project, Kayobe showed him a few beats he had – “Knock” really ignited something within him. Rashid immediately started writing verses on it, and they wrote the chorus together. It was a real organic process. Kayobe knew Rashid was going through some personal journeys that really helped him flow on it, too.
