Released this past Valentine’s Day, Without Love Vol. 1 was the first in a series of EPs that are heavily inspired by French house music and incorporate elements of disco, electro, and synth-pop. Our next instalment, Without Love Vol. 2 expands on the sample-heavy, disco inspired sound of Vol. 1, while flirting with lo-fi house, classic 80’s house, and shoegaze production techniques.
With “Theme From Depression,” we really dove into the microsampling technique which is heavily inspired by artists like Todd Edwards and Justice – taking short clips from songs that we warped, reversed, sped up, pitched, and whatever else we could to them until we had an entirely new track with a new melody and are basically unrecognizable to the original source.
Without Love Vol. 2 drops on September 21. It was produced, recorded, and mixed by us – ANZU. Precise Mastering’s Sam John (Justice, Chemical Brothers, Boys Noize, Robyn) offered up his expertise to put on the finishing touches.
