Toronto’s Jane’s Party – who just surpassed an incredible 3M streams – have set February 15, 2019 as the official release date for their new LP Casual Island. Check out the video for anthemic first single “You’re The Light” (written in collaboration with the band’s good friend Matthew Angus of Fast Romantics) HERE and stream/purchase HERE. Also available is a very special B-side cover of Gerry Rafferty’s 1978 hit single “Right Down The Line” featuring beloved DJ Skratch Bastid (aka Paul Murphy).
The band just announced a string of tour dates including direct support for BRITs Critics Choice winner and popular singer-songwriter Tom Odell. Odell, who is a self-proclaimed fan of Jane’s Party, handpicked the band to open his European tour last year. See below for show details.
JP recently premiered a new track “Surfing On A Sinewave” from their upcoming LP featuring Leland Whitty (BADBADNOTGOOD) which POPMATTERS described as a “…vibrant composition to be certain, but jazzy undertones permeate through the work from the get-go, as do dashes of pristine electropop. The end result might just be classified as an experiment gone right, especially with the help of BADBADNOTGOOD’s Leland Whitty.” The band also premiered another track featuring Leland on CBC’s The Strombo Show titled “Acknowledgements”. Both songs are available to stream and purchase HERE.
Jane’s Party members recently spent some time in Iqaluit, Nunavut for the Alianait Arts Festival which sets the spotlight on Inuit and other circumpolar artists while bringing together exciting world-class musicians, circus acrobats, dancers, storytellers, actors, filmmakers and visual artists from across the globe. The band taught workshops, collaborated with a multitude of artists, and ran the festival’s “Rock School”. Watch Tom perform an acoustic version of “Acknowledgements” in Iqaluit HERE.
Says the band about their incredible experience in Nunavut, “We were welcomed with open arms by everyone as soon as we arrived and the atmosphere was infectiously open and generous. For us, the trip was an incredible learning experience, getting a chance to take part in throat-singing, storytelling, and Inuit culture workshops, and getting a small glimpse into the community’s rich history. Highlights definitely included eating raw caribou and whale, playing basketball with the locals at 2am in plain sunlight, and taking in the sights on one of our many hikes. Thanks to Heather, Victoria, Alannah, and all the volunteers for making it happen!”
Devon Richardson, Tom Ionescu, Jeff Giles, and Zach Sutton have brought their irreverent, genre-bending sound to live audiences around the world; in buzzing clubs and famed concert halls in downtown Toronto, in stadiums across Canada, and in historic venues throughout Europe, opening for and playing alongside artists like Lowest of The Low, The Sadies, Sam Roberts Band, Arkells, Tom Odell, Blue Rodeo, Stars, LIGHTS, and Lord Huron. The band have also enjoyed success in TV land with sync placements in Kim’s Convenience, Saving Hope, and Burden of Truth. Having gained a stellar reputation for their soulful, energetic live shows, Jane’s Party are excited to hit the road to showcase their new collection of material.
