In the Arctic two doctors find themselves stranded. They are also refusing to go through regeneration as well. In plenty of difficulty and plenty going on around them.
The twelfth Doctor (played by Peter Capaldi) is still refusing to change. While still in this state he goes on a wild adventure with the first Doctor (played by David Bradley). Bill Potts (played by Pearl Mackie) is thrown in for good measure.
Another Doctor Who Christmas special. There has been many and this one signals the end of an era. It is hard to say goodbye to a Doctor that so much fun but you know this means time for someone new. Time to discover another version of the Doctor. That is always exciting. Exciting to see the differences. Exciting to see a new actor interpret the well known character.
Though there have been many of these before they are of varying quality. This is one of the best. Great, original story. Solid acting. Nice interplay between the two doctors. Plenty of fun to be had. The overall theme of finding some sliver of light even in what seems like the darkest of times really is timely and something we could all use. Plus it really adds a bow to what came before wrapping it all up rather nicely and setting the future off on a good note.
