Due to the phenomenal success of its previous editions, which have attracted over 42,000 visitors across 4 years, the 2018 Montreal Vegan Festival (MVF) will, for the very first time, take place at Palais des congres de Montreal. In this new, bigger venue, visitors will have even more opportunity to discover exciting new vegan products while learning about the health, ethical and ecological aspects of veganism.
A WHOLE HOST OF DEMONSTRATIONS, TALKS AND MORE
Once again MVF will offer visitors a multitude of bilingual activities that are open to everyone and cater to all tastes. This year visitors can try vegan food, clothing, beauty products and more from over 160 exhibitors, and attend conferences, thematic workshops, cooking demonstrations, as well as the hugely popular library section where there will be over 150 different titles to peruse and buy. Guests will also be able to have their books signed on-site by some of their respective authors.
For this fifth edition, MVF is delighted to work with its first ever spokesperson, The Buddhist Chef, Jean-Phillippe Cyr. Alongside Jean-Phillippe, there’s a packed program of special guests and expert speakers, including: British activist and educator Earthling Ed, animal rights lawyer and executive director of Animal Justice Camille Labchuck; Gaz Oakley, the Avant Garde Vegan, Toronto rapper / singer Gaia’s Eye, and Montreal’s queen of decadent vegan desserts, Sophie Sucrée’s Milène Laoun.
Also presenting various talks and demos are; Élise Desaulniers, executive director of SPCA Montréal, environmental expert Véronique Armstrong, author of La beauté sans cruauté Marie-Noël Gingras, Nicolas Morello, founder of Droit animalier Québec (Québec Animal Law) a non-profit organization whose mission is to drive animal law and ethics in Québec, author, teacher and activist of over 25 years, Lori Gruen, Pattrice Jones, co-founder of the LGBTQ-led animal refuge VINE Sanctuary, author, nutritionist and founder of Montreal-based M Nutrition Clinics Marjolaine Mercier, and Sebastien Kardinal, the vegan butcher.
