Being the sheriff in Absaroka, Wyoming seems like it would be a cushy job but it isn’t. In this the final season of the series that job and life of the town’s residents brings with them a new challenge every single day it seems. Trials and tribulations are to be faced by Sheriff Walt Longmire (played by Robert Taylor), his deputies Vic Moretti (played by Katee Sackhoff) and The Ferg (played by Adam Bartley), best friend Henry Standing Bear (played by Lou Diamond Phillips) and even his daughter, Cady (played by Cassidy Freeman). Battles that will be both personal and professional. No one has it easy. They have to decide whether it is going to be fight or flight.
Though the series is quite modern it might remind some out there of a long ago series called Gunsmoke. Same kind of tone and realistic cinematography. Plenty of old time feels.
Another appeal it has going for it is that small town feel to it. Often happens with westerns, no matter when they were made. Will have lasting appeal as a result.
All the boxes are ticked when it comes to making a solid television series – acting, directing, story, etc. Ending was a little drawn out but ultimately worth it.
