Between 2007 and 2012 this was the show which teenagers and young adults were tuning into. Tuning into to see their favourite heartthrobs, learning the latest cool lingo and keeping in touch with hot style trends. Gossip Girl and its largely young cast were setting the bar in many ways. This many years later it still remains a guilty pleasure for some. What could be more delightful than teens who look and act like adults and adults just like teens. The characters are engaging and interesting so you will remain involved.
Not heady stuff here, it is basically a soap opera for young people. Telling the tale of the affluence residents of the Upper East Side of Manhattan. This season they are heading off to college. A change of scenery but not behaviour. The same storylines filled with sex, secrets, betrayals, broken hearts and scheming. All believe that the burden of Gossip Girl will be relieved of them as they are moving out of high school on to college. Such is not the case. The mysterious online blog continues her blasts about the young elite of New York City. Their every move is still being monitored. You cannot hide anything from Gossip Girl, especially if you name is Serena van der Woodsen.
Chuck (played by Ed Westwick) and Serena (played by Blake Lively) are both involved in finding out things from their pasts which are affecting their lives today. Getting out of high school seems to have freed Dan (played by Penn Badgley) as he begins dating a huge actress (played by Hilary Duff) while also dealing with emerging feeling for bestie Vanessa (played by Jessica Szohr). Blair (played by Leighton Meester), while not getting into her beloved Yale, is attending NYU and settling into her relationship with Chuck. Jenny (played by Taylor Momsen) is adjusting to being the new Queen at Constance Billard. Nate (played by Chace Crawford) finally gets to date the girl of his dreams.
The popular cast remains intact with a few new faces added to spice things up. Big name guest stars pop up every now and then like Tyra Banks, Hilary Duff, Jimmy Fallon, Lady Gaga, William Baldwin and Michelle Tratchenberg.
