FOR ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY, ELEKTRA ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF AUSTRIAN ARTIST KURT HENTSCHLÄGER WITH A NEW VERSION OF ITS IMMERSIVE WORK FEED.X
ELEKTRA is proud to announce that the 20th edition of the international digital art festival will take place from June 11 to 16, 2019 in Montreal, QC, Canada. For the occasion, the festival will allow people to discover or revisit some immersive experiences that have marked a whole generation of spectators since the creation of the festival in 1999. Furthermore, the public will be introduced to a vast array of emerging artists.
Once again this year, the festival will take place in a dozen venues throughout the city, including Usine C, Société des Arts et Technologies (SAT), Cinémathèque Québécoise (CQ), and various galleries:Oboro, Perte de Signal, ELLEPHANT, the ELEKTRA Gallery, and Maison de la culture Marie-Uguay.
FEED.X at USINE C
Renowned for its extreme installations, kaleidoscopic effects, and unsettling psychedelic explosions, Hentschläger’s creations leave nobody indifferent. For its 20th anniversary, ELEKTRA will present Kurt Hentschläger’simmersive experience FEED.X (AT/US), from June 13 to 15 at 11 p.m. at Usine C. The public will be treated to the North American Premiere of a new, augmented version of the performance, which was previously presented more than 12 times at ELEKTRA under the name FEED.
FEED.X is a performative, totally immersive work focusing on the issue of the limits of human perception by alternating between sensory deprivation and sensory overload. The boundaries of internal and external perception fade away until all visual/spatial reference points are gone.
Transcendental, the work has often been described as a spiritual experience–there is a before and an after FEED. Finally, amateur and uninitiatedhttps://www.elektramontreal.ca/kurt-hentschlager spectators are invited to discover (or revisit) this absolutely unique experience. The number of places is limited. A liability release form must be signed by each spectator before entering the venue.
