This year, the Grand Prix NUMIX was awarded to BLVD and lg2 for the interactive installation they produced for the Pedestrian Safety awareness campaign of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ). The project consists of a bus shelter transformed into an installation to make pedestrians aware of the dangers of jaywalking. Acting like an X-ray machine, a LED screen and a stereoscopic camera allow passersby to see their own skeleton animate itself before their eyes. The concept combines real-time movement capture and algorithmic simulation, while the sound and computer graphics are generated in an interactive, real time way. After having fun with it for a while, passersby see themselves be brutally hit by a car. The result: a shocking operation that leaves a lasting impression. Recognized for its invisible technical prowess and its ability to convey a powerful message, this production left a strong impression on the jury, who would like to see it travel.
10 YEARS LATER: A GALA DEDICATED TO PROSPERITY
The 2019 NUMIX AWARDS night took place at L’Olympia in front of an enthusiastic audience of more than 500 players of the Quebec digital industry. Hosted by comedian Yannick De Martino, the gala highlighted the excellence and creativity of local productions in an unabashed, cheeky context. The 26 winners were selected by a jury of 33 members of the digital industry. The jury was presided over by Steve Couture, cofounder of the Canadian leader in digital entertainment and video games Frima and copresident of Go-Élan.
