Longing for sunny days? Cheer up, they’re back thanks to Piknic Électronik’straditional opening double Piknicon Sunday May 19th and Monday May 20th. It’s official! Piknic Électronik will return to brighten your weekends, thrilling thousands of Piknickers looking for sun-filled festivities.

This weekend, electronic music lovers’ most attended and celebrated Montreal summer event for over 17 years returns to parc Jean-Drapeau for 21 festive Sundays. All summer long, festivalgoers are invited to come picnic, dance and celebrate through September 29th!

Festivalgoers will experience the best in local and international music thanks to innovative and diverse programming highlighting both the brightest international stars and the young emerging talent that Piknic Électronik has proudly promoted for 17 years.

For this latest season, artists will perform across two stages set up in the heart of parc Jean-Drapeau, an iconic location where visitors can enjoy the best in electronic music in a lush, green environment. Thanks to this site, redesigned and improved annually to offer an even richer and more innovative experience, Piknic Électronik is ready to welcome the crowds in style! This year’s highlights include improved food options offering even more variety, with a list of food trucks present each week being distributed weekly. And same as always, visitors are invited to bring their own picnic as well!

A sensational first weekend!

As is tradition, Piknic Électronik will begin with a traditional double Piknic to start the summer off right. To open the festival, on May 19th, high priestess of sound Öona Dahl (US) will transport visitors at the Piknic stage to a unique and colourful universe, along with Montreal artists Adam Husa and Mike Haddad (QC).Simultaneously, at the Boisé stage, the first sounds of summer will come courtesy of RoH and Deck B b2b Toma Voglen (QC). They’ll be joined by Leëf b2b Ellxandra (QC)’s evocative frequencies. On May 20th, Baltra (US)’s energy, Empress (QC)’s afrobeats and NAP (QC)’s avant-guard sounds will take the Boisé stage on a journey. Meanwhile, at the Piknic stage, live performer Johnny Trika (QC) and DJ V.RO (QC) promise to ramp up the energy before passing the baton to the legendary Deep Dish veteran Dubfire (US), who’ll close this first weekend of fun and music.

Diverse programming all summer long

Reflecting Montreal’s diversity, Piknik Électronik’s 17th season will present a cosmopolitan line up featuring over 120 artists from across 19 different countries. Notably, the Piknic stage will welcome the progressive sound of Hernan Cattaneo (AR), the explosive, multi-colour rhythms of Lauren Lane (US) and a unique live set from Bulgaria’s KiNK (BG). Also on the menu, Ben Klock (DE)’s master class and French phenomenon RONE (FR)’s surprise guests and emotional, cinematic compositions. All season long, there’s a sound for everyone!
