Releasing new video for ‘Cool Kids’ via Nevado Music

New album What R U Waiting 4? due Sept 2019

Power pop trio Autogramm are announcing their new album with the release of their new video for ‘Cool Kids Radio’.

Active members of Vancouver’s incestuous creative scene (the band features members of Destroyer and Black Mountain), guitarist Jiffy Marx and bassist C.C. Voltage met back in the early 90s as teenage skateboarders while playing in punk bands.

While sitting on a canal together on a rainy day in Berlin, they hatched a plan to form a band with the intention of touring sunnier destinations. It’s no coincidence then that the band name came to be the German word Autogramm (translation; autograph). Jiffy enlisted The Silo (producer and drummer for Destroyer) while travelling with him in Mexico and the trio was complete.

On the new track, C.C. tells us it was “originally written in Berlin with Rich Jones (Michael Monroe, Loyalties, YoYo’s, Ginger Wildheart etc.). It’s kind of tongue in cheek, being well aware that we are neither kids nor cool. We took the song and changed it to sound more 80’s and part of the Autogramm sound, adding keys and harmonies. The video is about a secret murderer loose in the forest around a camp site. It’s supposed to be a throwback to those cheesy 80’s campsite horror movies.”

Directed by Justin Gradin based on a story/concept “Unknown Caller” by Jeffry Lee, with cinematography by Peter Hagge and blood and makeup by Isabelle Fallu.

The video is inspired loosely by 1974 Canadian psychological slasher film Black Christmas. Shot on location at Lakeside Motel and Campground on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast. Justin says “I’ve always wanted to shoot a movie at lakeside. It’s rustic simplicity seems frozen in time making it the perfect setting for a classic summer camp goofball comedy meets cabin in the woods slasher flick.”
