“Girl In The Bathroom Mirror” HERE
Indie pop and ambient rock band TANDM premiered their second single on
CBC Fresh Air and have shared its video with a powerful message in anticipation of their debut EP
Reflections, Vol. 1 out February 15, 2019 . “Girl in the Bathroom Mirror” is a reflection of feeling the need to
disappear. The story visualizes internal struggles of discomfort, insecurity, unhappiness, and anxiety in varying
scenarios. TANDM hopes this song will encourage empathy and compassion as “every individual has
sensitivities that are not always obvious to the eye. Mental or physical, it is important to understand that people
suffer everyday due to society’s standards.”

The Toronto-based songwriter duo is excited for their EP Release Show on February 20 at the Horseshoe
Tavern . They premiered their first single “Dreamworld” in fall 2018, telling the story of John and Jane Doe.
Vocalist and guitarist Maxine Beck-Sinderby and drummer Thomas Franklin met serendipitously at a music
studio in high school. Maxine’s undeniable musical talent runs in her family: her uncles are Grammy-winning
Canadian musician Chilly Gonzales and prolific Hollywood film composer Christophe Beck, known for his
Emmy-award winning work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer , and blockbuster films Frozen and Ant-Man. Thomas
honed his craft first with international touring jazz drummer Bill Ransom in the US, and then with renowned
Toronto musician Anthony Michelli. Both classically and jazz-trained in multiple instruments, Thomas and
Maxine started writing and performing their own music across Canada, the United States, and Sweden; as
TANDM they have performed with Swedish guitarist and songwriter Janne Schaffer of ABBA fame.
In early live performances their instrumentation was minimal, and they soon developed a signature sound
marked by Maxine’s silky vocals and catchy reverb-filled guitar riffs, driven forward by the energy of Thomas’s
impeccable drum flourishes. Drawing inspiration from the likes of ALVVAYS, Daughter, Foals, Of Monsters and
Men, and Arctic Monkeys, TANDM’s music weaves stories around the complexities of life. From personal
pleasures and conflicts to the flaws in society encountered in young adulthood, TANDM’s upbeat sounds, vivid
narratives and captivating melodies create a bittersweet and memorable experience for the audience that
echoes long after a first listen.
This past January, the indie pop/rock band performed at The Hideout in Toronto for a showcase hosted by The
Bout Music Festival & Competition. They are currently in the CBC Music Searchlight running with an early
release of their song “Run”. TANDM will release a second EP later this year.
