The next chapter of the blockbuster franchise “Fast & the Furious” is back with more cool cars, high speed chases and brings back some former cast members along with a few new faces as well. The movie is filled with action packed sequences and a few surprises.

Dom (Vin Diesel) escapes the law once again and heads for Brazil along with his crew.

What is meant to be a straight forward robbery of a few high end cars, turns into something far more sinister than they could have possibly anticipated. But Dom is no coward and sets his sights on Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), a corrupt business man and assembles a team of skilled individuals to steal all his money. His associates agree to participate so they can split the payoff and get a fresh start. To make matters more complicated, federal agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) is out to get Dom and his crew and will stop at nothing to catch them.

“Fast Five” was really action packed and director Justin Lin did a fantastic job, just as he did in “The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift.” There were some really daring scenes such as one where Dom and his crew steal some high end cars from a moving train and another totally insane car chase scene with a massive vault being dragged through the streets of Rio. You have to see it to know what I am talking about. It was quite spectacular to say the least.

They assembled a really good cast as well. Tough guys Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson are great on screen together. They are on the opposite sides of the law in the film and really battle it out. Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris actually play well off each other as well. These two provide the sarcastic humor in the film and lighten things up here and there amongst all the adrenaline filled action scenes.

Another interesting aspect about this series is that even though Dom and his crew are criminals, they often target other criminals and set things in motion to get what they want from them. It’s not a clear good vs. evil. There are the grey zones in between with good people sometimes doing bad things and bad people sometimes doing good things.

If, like me, you were wondering whether Michelle Rodriguez will reprise her role as Lani, make sure to stick around after the initial closing credits.
