Courtesy of Justin Time Records we get the latest release by Matt Herskowitz and the second on this label. Born in Albany, Matt Herskowitz graduated from Julliard in New York and then from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. A highly trained musician, he then moved to Montreal to begin his career. The pianist/composer/arranger has built quite a reputation within the jazz world.
His latest release is a solo piano piece which demonstrates his love of classical and jazz. He marries the two together here. The two genres have long existed side by side with each benefitting as a result. Some of the tracks are original works while others are covers.
The purity here is riveting. As the sound of of his piano washes over you, it relaxes you completely. Almost always puts the listener in a meditative state. Absolutely beautiful.
