A family drama which takes place in the 80s in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Though it is primarily a comedy there is also typically in each episode some poignant moments which lead you to think about how thankful you are for the people that are in your life. A life lesson occurs and you won’t be mad about it or feel like you are being preached at.
Maybe because the Goldbergs are a very average family the show is highly relatable. The stories are kept rather simple filled with situations we have all been in at different stages of our lives.
For those out there who grew up in the 80s there will be an extra level of enjoyment. Plenty of the references and clothes will bring a chuckle and memories flooding back.
The main cast all have really good chemistry. The Goldbergs are overprotective mom Beverly (played by Wendi McLendon-Covey), dad Murray (played by Jeff Garlin) and their three kids, Erica (played by Hayley Orrantia), Barry (played by Troy Gentile) and Adam (played by Sean Giambrone).
