WORLD PREMIERE AT TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (TIFF)
and QUEBEC PREMIERE AT FESTIVAL DU NOUVEAU CIN MA (FNC)
Maison 4:3 and Voyelles Films are proud to present The Twentieth Century, the first feature film by Canadian filmmaker Matthew Rankin (The Tesla World Light, Mynarski Death Plummet), produced by Gabrielle Tougas-Fr chette and M na c Raoul. The film will screen as a World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), in competition for the Canada Goose award for Best Canadian Feature as well as the City of Toronto award for Best Canadian First Feature and the Grolsch People’s Choice Midnight Madness award. The 44th edition of the TIFF will take place from September 5 to 15.
In a delirious form with perfectly controlled visual experiments, The Twentieth Century transports us to Toronto, in 1899. A young politician in training, WL Mackenzie King hesitates in love between a Quebec nurse and a British soldier, while maintaining a secret link with a shoe.
The Twentieth Century stars Dan Beirne, Sarianne Cormier, Catherine St-Laurent, Mikha l Ahooja, Se n Cullen, Brent Skagford, Trevor Anderson, Richard Jutras, Louis Negin, Kee Chan, Emmanuel Schwartz, Satine Scarlett Montaz, Annie St-Pierre, Martin Dubreuil and Marie Brassard.
The film’s Quebec premiere will take place during the 48th Festival du nouveau cin ma (FNC), which will run October 9 to 20. The Twentieth Century will be in competition for the new FIPRESCI award, as announced earlier this week.
Distributed by Maison 4:3, The Twentieth Century will open in theatres in Quebec in December 2019.
